Unexpected and unthinkable tragedies cause fear in most people, but only a few actually have to live through them. Andrzej Bednaruk, who has done a lot of car wash servicing for J & M Car Wash Builders’ customers over the years, is one of them.

On March 6, 2023, Andrzej (Andrew) experienced recurring episodes of chest pains, nausea, and shortness of breath. He sought medical help at a nearest Emergency Room. Unfortunately, his condition worsened and he had to be immediately transported via helicopter to another hospital. This is the last thing he remembers from that day.
When he woke up, he realized that he no longer had legs. He thought he had a nightmare that he would eventually wake up from. He was then informed that he suffered a bad case of ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction, which is a heart attack with a completely blocked coronary artery, and that his legs could not have possibly been saved due to serious vascular complications.
What makes this tragedy even more unfathomable is that Andrew is only 41. His wife and daughter live in Poland, and now he can’t support them, and needs help himself to literally get back on his feet.
He needs two prosthetic legs and just one can cost up to $70,000. Aside from having both legs amputated above the knee, he will soon face the reality of receiving medical bills for a minimum of hundreds of thousands of dollars. As of today, he is in a rehabilitation facility, and will be soon discharged home, where he will need assistive equipment, as well as long-term rehabilitation, medications, and complex medical treatment.

Prior to that horrific incident, Andrew was a well-regarded police officer in Poland, and a strong, energetic young man, experienced in car wash equipment installation and repair. He has done a lot of good work at many car wash sites in the Tristate area. He was also passionate about outdoor activities, with fishing and hiking being his absolute favorites. He would like to be able to do it again, but his most important goal is to be as active as possible in family life and his daughter’s upbringing. To state the obvious: all of these goals require functioning legs.
Together, we can all help him get back in his feet. You can do that by going to:
