Spring is finally here, and it has brought with it warm weather and the always-welcome convention and tradeshow season. After a long winter, operators and industry suppliers are anxious to get together, network, and explore the latest and greatest developments in the industry we all love.

Auto Laundry News kicked off the spring season a little early by attending the first major tradeshow of the year, SCWA — held, as always, in February in Fort Worth, TX.

As I strolled the show floor, speaking to operators and vendors, enjoying the expansive educational docket, and attending networking events in the evening, I was reminded of what long-time Auto Laundry News columnist Anthony Analetto has preached over the years — come back with one thing.

When attending an industry event, if you can bring back one idea that can be implemented at your wash to improve operations, boost employee morale, or increase the bottom line, your attendance has been more than justified.

I like to take it one step further and look at every interaction with fellow industry members at these events as an opportunity to learn one thing. Whether it is a tidbit about an operator’s newest build, how a technical innovation can help get cars cleaner, or something interesting about an industry friend I hadn’t known before — if I can walk away from each interaction with one morsal of information I have succeeded.

By breaking down the event into smaller ‘mini-events,’ each with its own golden nugget of information to gather, I can ensure that I spend my time wisely and continue to increase my industry knowledge.

The spring season is full of opportunities to learn from and network with fellow operators and industry insiders. Check out our events calendar on page 64 for some of the top tradeshows and events on the horizon, and make plans to attend at least one this year.

Of course, it is impossible to carve out the time to make every worthwhile event, so we try to provide as much coverage as possible. In this issue, we have a quick recap of the SCWA event as well as a write-up on the latest Women in Carwash event—which, unbelievably, will be hosting its 10th event in the middle of June.

In this issue, we also take a first look at the biggest car wash event of the year, the International Carwash Association’s annual Car Wash Show. We quickly preview the agenda and have a list of all the solution providers that will adorn the show floor. Next month, we will dive deeper into the ICA’s educational agenda and highlight some of the can’t-miss sessions that are sure to provide meaningful takeaways.

As always, we will have a presence on the ICA show floor — booth 126 — and encourage everyone to stop by to say hello and share what you have seen and heard at the show. Hopefully, our conversation becomes one of the things you bring back with you.
