The Southwest Car Wash Association’s Annual Convention and Car Wash Expo for 2023 is scheduled to take place from Wednesday, February 22 through Friday, February 24 at the Fort Worth Convention Center in Fort Worth, TX.
The CEO Forum kicks off the event on Wednesday. Immediately after, the exhibits open, providing attendees an initial five hours of browsing time among the exhibitors’ offerings. Thursday afternoon adds a further four hours of open exhibits.
Car Wash Basics 101 leads off the educational sessions on Thursday morning. Depending on one’s level of experience, this presentation can be viewed as either an introduction or a refresher course. Concurrent sessions include the Fast Track table discussions and the ever-popular Idea Exchanges — one each for conveyor/exterior washes, self-serve/in-bay automatic washes, and detailing operations. The educational progra-mming concludes on Friday morning with the 2023 SCWA Car Wash Academy sessions.
The highlight of the General Session on Thursday is the keynote address by renowned sports broadcaster, Dick Vitale. Vitale called ESPN’s first-ever major NCAA basketball game — and since then over one thousand games. A wide array of national magazines, ranging from Sports Illustrated, Sport and The Sporting News to People, and Travel & Leisure have highlighted his career and life achievements.
Vitale relates a life’s lesson he got from his parents: “They told me that if you gave 110 percent all the time; beautiful things will happen. I may not always be right, but no one can ever accuse me of not having a genuine love and passion for whatever I do.” And, it’s not all about Sports. Vitale is on the board of directors of The V Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to finding a cure for cancer and founded by ESPN and the late Jim Valvano. The organization has since raised over $130 million for cancer research.
