The Southwest Car Wash Association’s Annual Convention and Car Wash Expo for 2020 took place at the Fort Worth Convention Center in Fort Worth, TX Wednesday, January 29 through Friday, January 31. This marked a venue change for the annual event, which had simply outgrown the otherwise excellent facilities in Arlington.

The Fort Worth Convention Center is situated in downtown Fort Worth within walking distance from several hotels and numerous restaurants, making for a convenient location. The center is built over 14 city blocks previously known as “Hell’s Half Acre,” which beginning in the 1870s housed a string of saloons, bordellos, and gambling parlors. Of these attractions, of course, none remains.

According to the association, attendance well exceeded the 2,000 mark. That attendees (not including exhibitors) came from 45 states and three foreign countries was most gratifying. SCWA’s annual event has obviously built a reputation that resonates well beyond its regional borders.

Arthur Greeno, a multi-store franchisee of Chick-Fil-A for the past 26 years of his 30-year involvement with the fast-food purveyor, was the speaker at the CEO Leadership Forum, the opening session on Wednesday. He shared his insights on providing remarkable service.

During the general session on Thursday morning, the association bestowed its highest honor, the Lifetime Achievement Award on Brian Campbell, professional car washing’s #1 fan. At six months old, Brian was diagnosed with Williams Syndrome, a condition that causes developmental difficulties. Brian discovered the car wash industry at age 11, and it has fascinated him ever since. He has been a regular presence at the Southwest expo and The Car Wash Show since 1993.

Former Vice President Dick Cheney was the keynote speaker during the general session. He shared his views in an interview-styled setting.
