Nancy Jean Balash (nee Reich) passed away at age 87 on April 19, 2021 in Michigan in the company of her family — beloved wife of Lawrence for 57 years, together with whom she founded Vaughan Industries in 1977, mother of Katie (Mike) Novak and the late Andrew Vaughan Balash, and grandmother.

Nancy had a passion for learning and teaching. She taught English at Wayne State University, mentoring and encouraging all her students. A champion of the English language, she enjoyed an honorary position with the “Grammar Police,” and coupled with her wicked sense of humor, relished the job. She found joy in everything: beautiful flowers, clouds, random acts of kindness, and simple conversation. One of her favorite bits of wisdom: “Life is uncertain. You should eat dessert first.”

Services are scheduled for Monday, April 26 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Irenaeus Catholic Church 771 Old Perch Rd., Rochester Hills, MI.
