Motor City Wash Works held its 10th annual Open House and Charity Auction to benefit St. Jude Children’s Hospital this past August. The event enabled a record-setting $252,000 donation for St. Jude. This compares to the $102,000 raised last year.

The company started its Open House 10 years ago. Initially, the event was simply an Open House to welcome car wash professionals to its factory to get to know Motor City Wash Works on a more one-on-one basis. Participants were able to tour the facility and get the chance to meet the MCWW team. Meeting the team now involves more than 80 individuals, while the facility tour takes in over 68,000 square feet.

In 2013, the Live Charity Auction was added to the mix. To date, the auction has raised over $470,000 for charity. MCWW credits this, in part, to the increasing number of attendees. In 2013, that number stood at 74; this year attendance grew to more than 230, made up of a mix of operators, distributors, and manufacturers.

The Live Charity Auction again took place in the historic Gem theater in downtown Detroit under the capable leadership of auctioneer Letitia Frye.
