With an influx of new mat washers coming into the United States and Canadian markets, operators must be aware of the required standards to ensure the safety of their customers and avoid being held liable for any injuries. Jesse Stiltner from AutoMat Washer and Supply recommends operators look for the following things before making a mat washer purchase.

•  Pinch Points — Can someone place fingers or other body appendages into moving parts?
•  Emergency Stop — Does the equipment have an emergency stop that will kill power to the entire machine and ensure it will not start again until the emergency stop is released?
•  Equipment Grounding — Is the mat washer electrically grounded? This guarantees that the equipment’s frame will not become electrified in case of an electrical short.
