Larry Barnes recently retired after a 30-year stint building distributorships for car wash chemical manufacturer Scotch Plaid Inc. During this time, he operated a little side business rebuilding car wash pumps.

Larrys pump customers responded to news of his retirement with dismay, bemoaning the potential loss of his services. Ive had so much good feedback about my work that being retired from selling soap, I find myself re-fired to increase pump repair, says Barnes.

According to Barnes many of the old units operators have stacked in the corner of their pump rooms can be resurrected with a little attention. Its rare that I cant fix just about any pump, including those with washed out manifolds, he says, adding that, alternatively, he can create a few good pumps from the parts of a pile of old ones.
