Mike Mountz, founder of Grace for Vets, has announced that the International Carwash Association has agreed to sponsor the organization and provide ongoing support for the worldwide program. The ICA, in conjunction with a volunteer board, will continue holding a one-day event on Veterans Day during which car wash operators offer free car washes to military veterans and active-duty personnel.
Started in 2004, the event has grown to include over 2,800 car wash locations in four countries. Grace for Vets washed over 230,000 cars for free during the 2014 event.
Mountz was concerned that his retirement from the industry would mean the end of Grace for Vets, but the ICA’s involvement will continue the event well into the future. Gary Dennis, president of the ICA said, "Grace for Vets is such a great program and has done so much to publicize our industry’s philanthropy and support of our military."
The Grace for Vets volunteer group will be chaired by Mountz with past ICA president and current board member Mark Curtis serving as its president. Grace for Vets will continue to welcome all car wash operators to participate in the program — ICA membership is not required.
