A new mural kicking off Marine Week Seattle, now through August 3, is on display at the Brown Bear Car Wash located at 1800 15th Ave West. The permanent artwork celebrates the connection between community, country and the U.S. Marine Corps.
On July 25, Brown Bear founder Victor Odermat joined fellow Marine veterans, active duty U.S. Marines, and guest speaker Randy Engstrom, director of the City of Seattle’s office of arts and culture, to unveil the commemorative mural.
A five-member Marine Mural Team created the artwork over several days with products donated by Sherwin Williams. Each mural is unique to its host city, and this year’s mural is intended to serve as a gift on behalf of the Marine Corps to the citizens of Seattle for their support during Marine Week.
“The mural is an artistic way to celebrate our city’s bond with the Marine Corps and the annual celebration of the relationship,” said Odermat, adding that Brown Bear will maintain the mural into the future.
